Dr. S.D. Sharma
Our founder Dr. S.D. Sharma (1916-2005) graduated from Lahore veterinary college in 1942. After a short tenure of service in Remount Veterinary corps, Amritsar, Panipat, he came to settle down in Delhi. Got attached with Parliament vet. hospital, Delhi Race Course / club and Delhi zoo. For nearly 2 decades shouldered responsibilities at Delhi SPCA. He started private practice in 1952 with multi location set ups. Dr. Sharma’s Veterinary Centre became a brand for treatment in small animals and equines. In the year 2008, 3rd generation vets joined the ongoing set up and the brand name was changed to MAX VETS (a multi speciality hospitals chain focusing on small animals).

The hospital chain has grown by leaps and bounds since its inception in the year 1059 by my father, Dr S.D. Sharma. We are proud of our long lineage of the veterinarians in the family and I am thrilled to say that both my sons, Dr Kunal. (orthopedics and neurology) and Dr Bhanu (European masters in internal medicine / cardiology) are dedicated to the noble cause of making animal lives better. Today, the chain of animal hospitals in Delhi operates in 7 center’s located at East of Kailash, GK-1, Rajouri Garden, Shanti Niketan, Gurugram 55, Palam Vihar and Rohini.
Diagnostics & more
We offer the widest and most exhaustive range of diagnostics like blood gas testing, colour doppler ultrasound, echocardiography, multi slice CT scan and fluoroscopy. When it comes to surgical specialties, the hospital breaks barriers with ophthalmic surgeries for cataract, cornea and lens replacements, minimally invasive procedures like laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures, cardiothoracic surgeries, orthopaedic and spinal operations, vascular and avascular stent placements and minimally invasive osteosynthesis.
Areas of expertise
The areas of expertise offered include cardiology, orthopaedics, neurology, nephrology, ophthalmology, dermatology, endocrinology, exotic pet medicine, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, myotherapy and hydrotherapy. We also perform haemodialysis for pets with kidney failure which is available in limited veterinary facilities in India. Moreover, our complete physiotherapy and rehabilitation unit is also first of its kind facility in the country, equipped with underwater treadmill and advanced therapies like cold laser, ultrasound and TENS (Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimul). Our latest endeavor is the launch of the flagship hospital at East of Kailash, which has state of the art equipment at our fingertips. All our specialised services are provided by experienced veterinary professionals. We perform some of the most remarkable modern procedures available in the world. This advanced facility was the dream of my father, grandfather and all of us. When I say different facilities, we have added convenience facilities, such as cafe, pharmacy, pet shop, all open 24×7. Ancillaries like cafe are designed to boost the mood of pet parents who bring in their sick furry kids.
The idea is to provide a ‘one stop destination’ to pets and their pet parents. We don’t want to call ourselves a grooming center or spa, because we are not. Instead, we call it part of dermatology, as we have prescriptions for almost every bath that we give or haircut which is needed. We maintain every bit of practice for the health and hygiene of our patients which non-technical people can not do. The admission facilities are unparalleled. There is an isolated contagious disease ward to avoid spread of diseases. At a time, the facility is able to accommodate 8 patients in the contagious ward, 12 patients in the ICU, 6 birds and 12 exotic pets, 16 cats and 28 dogs in the general ward. Our facility has 4 operation theaters. our exclusive cat section is directly connected to the ultrasound room, x-ray room, ECG room, we waste no time in handling an emergency. As we share our journey in the future, we rededicate ourselves to uphold the trust reposed in us by our clients and pledge to continue our fight against diseases and disorders to make the lives of our pets better.
